If the grass is looking greener on someone else’s lawn, it just means that you need to take better care of your own lawn! Make Time For Yourself! This means doing what absolutely positively brings you peace. Sometimes, you have to claim a few care free moments. Taking care of your body emotionally, physically, and mentally through creating joy and satisfaction is a key part of living a well balanced life. It can be proven that positive emotions can decrease stress hormones and build emotional strength. With that said, a few great ways to do this is to:
- Figure out the best time that works for you. Nail down that time and CLAIM IT as YOUR TIME!!! Don’t let anyone interrupt, steal or intrude on this time. It is your time. You have claimed it!
- Put this specific time and activity into practice for long enough to know that it is or is not working for you before you change the time. Research has shown that it can take up to 21 days to form a solid habit. Keeping this in mind, don’t get overwhelmed if your new plan doesn’t feel so easy to do after just a few days of trying it out. Stick with it for awhile and see how you adjust.
- If you find that you are not adjusting well to this new time or new activity (that you are supposed to find peace and joy in doing) change it up. Don’t be afraid to try a new time or a new activity. This is YOUR time. This is time you are creating to re energize, revive or relax yourself. If it doesn’t feel right for you, CHANGE IT UP. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Once you find what works for you, you will feel more at ease. This is what will keep you excited about practicing this line of self care daily.
